Just got the news that our little buddy, Shamus, will have to undergo surgery to fix a problem with his bladder. This is his first trip to the vet, and he's a scared little guy. If you are okay with praying for a cat, your prayers would be greatly appreciated. I'm not about to have a fundraiser and beg for money for his surgery, but if you want to buy a limited edition (100) Shamus t-shirt, all profits will go towards his surgery. Thank you.

Click here to see photos of our buddy.

Update: he had the surgery this morning, and the vet said it was "tough" due to much blockage. The vet put in a catheter, which Shamus will have to put up with all weekend. If the weekend goes well for him, he should return home on Monday and will have a special diet for about a week.

Update #2: Barb spoke with the vet today and was informed that the surgery did not work. Shamus will have to go through the surgery a second time, and stay with the vet another 3 days. Sadness abounds. Barb took some of his toys and his favorite mat to the vet so he can have a little bit of comfort and familiarity in his cold heartless cage.

Update #3: We were expecting to have Shamus back home this afternoon, but we just heard from the vet that he found some blood clots. The doc wants to keep an eye on him for a few more days. I'm not sure which is worse - knowing that we will have a ridiculously high vet bill to pay, or not having my buddy safe at home. Yes, I do know which is worse, but we get to experience both.

Even though the upcoming bill scares me some, God will find a way for us to take care of it. A big thank you to those who have purchased the t-shirts. This internet thing is pretty cool. I can write about my cat, and people I've never met are willing to help out.

More changes are coming. First, the good old Blogger system that has served me well for over 5 years is being shelved in favor of Wordpress. It's a better system in all regards, and allows me more control over my words.

Second, the blog you are now reading will be replaced by a product page, with a nicer search function where hopefully you can find the design you want without suffering through long lists of irrelevant search results. The blog will be moved to an internal page.

And finally, we're searching for the Next Top Model. Well, not exactly, but we are looking for models to demonstrate how our t-shirts work ("you wear it, egghead"). If you would like to take a shot at fame and fortune, send in a photo of you sporting the latest in Catscape fashion, and if we use it you will get a free t-shirt and our undying gratitude. The fame and fortune stuff was a bit of a ruse to get your attention. Sorry about that. Disclaimer: please do not submit photos of you showing partial (or any) nudity, smoking, drinking adult beverages, or demonstrating your best seductive pose. Keep it clean. You know, for kids! If you read this far, thanks :)

One of my past jobs was with a cool little startup in Alpharetta, Georgia. One of the Big Boss guys was also named Greg, so in order to avoid confusion he decided that I would now be called "GW". Since he was the boss, who was I to argue with his directive? I'd show up to work and hear "Hey GW, what's up?", or "Nice job on that new banner ad, GW", or "Great shoes, GW. Did you get those at a men's store?", and things like that.

So, when I get an email with a subject line of "hey gw", naturally I take a look. It's from Owens Antwan, whom I do not know. But Boss Man Greg knew lots of people. Perhaps Boss Man Greg contacted Owens to tell him that I make great banner ads, and he should hire me to a six figure contract. It's just a harmless email, so I take the bait and open it.

"regions inexpressibly experiencing occupants hidden pleas we exceptional brokenup martyr vestibule housemaid event narrative mastered equally ducked denounced admixture lucky shouting brushes sped redeemer indifferently twanged affect astrologers brings crop marblefaced suicides usefull dressed raced charming crosses faster"

"Charming crosses faster"? What is that all about? It's like he's speaking in code! Hey, I saw a program on The History Channel once about codebreakers, and how they took every 4th word from the text and it made sense. So I tried it.

"occupants exceptional housemaid equally lucky redeemer astrologers suicides charming"

Ahhh. I think I'm on to something here. Somewhere, there is an exceptional live-in housemaid who was equally lucky and redeemed her lottery ticket, after consulting with an astrologer. She apparently became so rich that everyone hounded her for money. She was so tired of the long-lost second cousins showing up to squeeze money out of her that suicide became a "charming" option. Maybe Owens bought a ticket and is trying to tell me something. But... hey look, he attached a file! I'll bet it's the lucky lottery numbers!

I'll just double click to open....
